Don't Call Us, We'll Call You

The waiting list is where a college keeps the people it liked, but not that much. Every college whose Common Data Set reports a waiting list with at least 50 students accepting a place on it, ranked by the share of those students who ever got the call, lowest first; ties go to the longer line. Offered is how many were handed a spot in the queue, Accepting how many said yes to waiting, Admitted how many were let in. Left Waiting is Accepting minus Admitted: the people who refreshed their inbox all summer for nothing. Offers / Class is the queue as a share of the first-year class that actually enrolled; above 100% the college wait-listed more students than it had seats. The latest of Fall 2021 to Fall 2025 the college reports. Colleges that admit nobody off the list are either very good at predicting yield or very good at letting you down gently.
